question!

hello! ia m extremely new to electronics and botting! so i have quite a n00b-like question: http://www.tombot.net/beam/pics/circuits/2motorwalker.jpg
what is the yellow piece with '224' written on it? and what does 224 mean?
Tombot!

Hi... sorry for the delay in replying, I have been away for a week.

The component you are referring to is a capacitor, the 224 is the code to work out its value. In this case it is a 22micro farad capacitor.

Hope that helps!

Hi akoe,

The voltage of the 22uF cap needs to be rated above the supply voltage... in thsi case 5V is fine.

Yes you can replace the chip as you mention.

The 2.7M resistor is correct.

Hope this helps, I will e-mail you the response also.

Tom
